WCMD part 4 - Papertreyink

This is my entry for Papertreyink's WCMD challenge #1: Japan.

My Japanese elements: Gold, Shibori design, Cho-Cho (butterfly), Mon (family crest), Sakura flowers

I used the background medallions because they reminded me of Japanese Mon, which is basically a family crest. The medallions are from the first PTI free exclusive anniversary set. To learn how to qualify for one of these sets go here. There's a new set each year.

I made the butterflies with one of my all time favorite PTI sets: Butterfly Kisses
First I made my die cut butterflies, then I stamped various butterflies from the set on them with my Versamark, then embossed with a very light EP, then I glimmer misted them, and then I outlined them with a Krylon gold leafing pen.

I wanted the butterflies to look like Shibori, which is a wonderful Japanese technique much like our tie-dying.

WCMD Part 2 - Crafty Secrets

The SCS Crafty Secrets challenge was: Dimension.

I combined two of my favorite Crafty Secrets sets: Fairyland and Halloween Fun. It's so hard to photograph dimension! I have the focal image raised on pop dots and the witch's hat is also raised on pop dots.

World Card Making Day at SCS Part 1

Unity Stamp Co. is hosting one of the many challenges for WCMD over at Splitcoaststampers.com organized by Unity's very own super talented Jimmi Mayo!

The Unity challenge was to use a quote as a focal. Here, I stamped and embossed the quote and then sprayed layer upon layer of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Stamp Zia Ultra Color Wash Jewels.

Joni's Mystery Monday Challenge at Club Anya

Club Anya is now hosting Mystery Monday Challenges!
This week's challenge was hosted by the super talented Joni Wilson!

Joni's challenge was "JONI's RULE OF THREE'S".

1.) You must use these three colors: Pink, Black, and White
2.) You must use THREE different embellishments

For my 3 different embellishments I used rhinestones, pearls and Japanese washi tape.
And, I even used 3 Anyas. ;o)

I embossed first and then painted in with the Twinkling H2O's.

And, I just realized I forgot to go over Mermaid Anya's hair pearls with a darker color. Ugh. That's what I get for rushing!

Friends with Flair Friday at UNITY!

It's Friends with Flair Friday at Unity Stamp Co. again! Wow, the week just flies by!

I like to make backgrounds with the Cuttlebug embossing folders. I inked them up with various Versamagic and Brilliance Dew Drop ink pads. I love Brilliance ink!! It's very shimmery/metallic. I like to go over the embossed area with a lighter color like Brilliance Purple or Platinum Planet and then hit the edge with a darker color like Brilliance Crimson. I then embossed some sheets of Unity butterflies and punched out some hearts. Easy way to make some notecard sets.

Recognize the tails on these mermaids? They are the umbrella tops from the Rain & Flowers set. I embossed then painted with Twinkling H2O's. I drew the rest by hand and added some Ice Stickles.
