Taylored Expressions Challenge #86

[click pics for larger view]

Sorry I had such a big gap in posts! I've been busy working on several projects and prepping for my card class I'm teaching at Paper Tales tomorrow! Sorry I haven't been to visit your blogs, but I will be back this weekend!!!

I created these for the Taylored Expressions sketch challenge #86. Click the link to see Taylor's orginal sketch and amazing card samples!

I used Taylored Expressions set: Punchy Potions

I LOVE this set!! She even has potion bottles for sale that go with it here. They are so much fun!

Here's some close ups of the details. Sorry for the bad colors. Had to turn my flash off and since it's already dark out, I had to use bathroom lighting. Not the best. ;o)

For the buttons, I stamped the little spider image from the Potion set and punched out and then adhered with a teeny bit of Glossy Accents to a frosted clear button.

For this one, I did the emboss resist glimmer mist technique. Emboss first with a light color and then spray with Tattered Angels glimmer mist. Or, any other dark shimmery product!

I punched them out with the Marvy Giga scalloped oval. I don't have the regular oval, but I'm guessing it might be a good match. The Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large Nestabilities also works with this set.

The witch image on the third card is Prickley Pear: Swanky Witch.

Be back tomorrow with Friends with Flair Friday!!

WCMD part 4 - Papertreyink

This is my entry for Papertreyink's WCMD challenge #1: Japan.

My Japanese elements: Gold, Shibori design, Cho-Cho (butterfly), Mon (family crest), Sakura flowers

I used the background medallions because they reminded me of Japanese Mon, which is basically a family crest. The medallions are from the first PTI free exclusive anniversary set. To learn how to qualify for one of these sets go here. There's a new set each year.

I made the butterflies with one of my all time favorite PTI sets: Butterfly Kisses
First I made my die cut butterflies, then I stamped various butterflies from the set on them with my Versamark, then embossed with a very light EP, then I glimmer misted them, and then I outlined them with a Krylon gold leafing pen.

I wanted the butterflies to look like Shibori, which is a wonderful Japanese technique much like our tie-dying.
See some fabulous scarves done in the shibori technique here.

Supplies:
Papertreyink: Butterfly Kisses, Anniversary Set 1
Papertreyink cardstock: True Black
Tattered Angels glimmer mist and Stamp Zia color wash
Cuttlebug butterfly die
Versamark
Lindy's Stamp Gang EP: Angel Wings Sapphire
Krylon gold metallic leafing pen
Maya Road chipboard: Cherry Blossoms & Birds
