Stamp: The Greeting Farm/Rain, Snow, Shine!So some of you were interested in the Tattered Angels Butterfly Framed Fonts. The Chipboard is very high quality, embossed, and self-adhesive! There are a total of 36 Butterflies. Which makes this a great deal!
When using your Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, always shake first so that all that beautiful shimmer in the bottom gets mixed in. Make sure your lid is securely on so you don't splatter yourself with shimmer. Unless, of course you like that look. If you should spray yourself in the eye, I happen to know from personal experience that it shouldn't harm you. Yes, someone actually sprayed me in the eye once!
I always place a piece of cardstock underneath, so that I can recycle that piece in my ATC's [see this post.] I like to use several colors of Mist, because they blend so beautifully. Here's what your chipboard will look like when wet. I used the colors Mimosa and Tattered Rose.
You can either let it air dry, use a heat gun, or blot it very lightly with a paper towel. Be aware that if you blot, some of the glimmer will be absorbed, so if you want it less shimmery, this is a good technique. Also, when using the heat gun, keep in mind if you overheat it, it will slightly buckle, which is not a problem since these butterflies are completely coated in self-adhesive and will stick flat to your project. Just don't heat it so much, that your sticky melts!
Once your Mist is dry, you can use ink [chalks or pigment work fine] to highlight that embossed area. Just rub your cat's eye or ink pad over the raised areas and edges. Below, you can see the difference of the inked and non-inked areas.
Next, cut a piece of cardstock to fit the inside of your acetate card. Here I added some color to the edges. Then, peel off the backing from your butterfly to use as a mask. Make sure you set your butterfly somewhere safe sticky side up. You may need to use a piece of scratch paper for any other areas you want to avoid inking.
You can also use a stamp that will fit perfectly inside the butterfly, or Mist your Monogram and use that. Negating the need for the mask.
Color in your image and decorate the background if you like. Keeping in mind you may want to write inside of it. If you want to completely decorate the background, then instead of a single sheet of cardstock adhered to the acetate card, make a folded card and adhere the backside to the acetate. So, basically you have a card within a card.
I used Copic Markers to color in the image. Hair: E37, E17, E11 Skin: E00, E33, R20 Clothing: BG11, BG72 The Greeting Farm's stamps are great for Copic coloring!
Adhere your butterfly to the outside of the card and embellish! Here I added some Stickles to the edge of the butterfly in the color Waterfall. I punched a border with my Fiskars Sunburst punch and added some Prima Hydrangeas and bling. The teeny teal bling are by Memory Box.
This card should take you about 15 minutes. You can use any of the Tattered Angels Framed Fonts for this type of card. They are really fun to play with!
